Connect your own domain
On the Studio plan and above, you can serve your client portal at your own address, such as clients.yourfirm.com. Add the domain in Settings under Domain, then add the one CNAME and two TXT records Denby shows at your DNS provider. The portal goes live as soon as the certificate is issued.
Add your domain
- Go to Settings, then Domain.
- Enter the address you want, such as
clients.yourfirm.com, and select Add domain.
Use a subdomain rather than your main domain, so your website isn’t affected. Denby then lists three DNS records, each with Copy name and Copy value buttons.
Add the records at your DNS provider
Sign in wherever you manage your domain (often where you bought it) and add:
- a CNAME record that points your portal address at Denby;
- a TXT record that proves you own the domain;
- a TXT record that lets us issue the security certificate.
Copy each name and value exactly. DNS changes usually take effect within an hour, sometimes longer.
Wait for it to go live
Denby checks pending domains every 15 minutes. You can also select Check now. The status changes from Waiting for DNS to Live once the address and its certificate are both active. Your portal then works at your address, and Denby’s address keeps working too.
Once live, Denby re-checks your records every week. If they’re changed or removed, the custom address stops working until they’re fixed, which protects your clients from someone else taking over the address.
Remove a domain
Select Remove domain. Clients using that address will need the Denby address instead.
